Inderal is a antianginal, antiarrhythmic, antihypertensive, antitimigraine drug, and beta blocker. Propranolol is not a benzodiazepine, it belongs to a group of drugs known as beta blockers. Angina Pectoris: Dosage must be individualized. Total daily doses of 80 mg to 320 mg, administered orally, twice a day, three times a day, or four times a day.
Arrhythmias: 10 mg to 30 mg three or four times daily, before meals and at bedtime.
Myocardial Infarction: Recommended daily dosage is 180 mg to 240 mg per day in divided doses.
Migraine: Dosage must be individualized. The initial oral dose is 80 mg Inderal daily in divided doses. The usual effective dose range is 160 mg to 240 mg per day.

Evaluation of the effects of propranolol in children, relative to the drug's efficacy and safety, has not been as systematically performed as in adults. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Propranolol is excreted in human milk. Caution should be exercised when Inderal is administered to a nursing woman.
Inderal should be used with caution by individuals with impaired hepatic or renal function. Inderal is not indicated for the treatment of hypertensive emergencies.
Inderal may cause side effects, such as; bradycardia, congestive heart failure, light-headedness, lassitude, weakness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting and epigastric distress. Most adverse effects have been found mild and transient and have rarely required the withdrawal of therapy.
